USS SELLERS Refueling

A sincere "thank you" to IS1 Buz Hopper for thinking of us. He sent us a short clip showing the SELLERS during refueling. The video was shot from the deck of the SARA in the 'Med in 1976. Click here to view the video.

USS SELLERS in Philly

Lutjens

1st March 1966 the 1st Guided Missile Destroyer of the “Charles F. Adams - Class”, ordered by the German government, was layed on keel with the official hull-number DDG28 at Bath Iron Works Corporation in Bath/Maine (USA). Click here to visit the web home of the Lutgens.

1965-1966 Cruise Book

GMG3 Noah Pullen Photos

Noah served on SELLERS in the late 80's and has contribued some new photos- which is a very good thing. For some reason, sailors from the 80's have not contibuted nearly as much as those from the 60's. To see Noah's photos, click here.

New Stuff from Dick Sheehan

TWO USS SELLERS VIDEOS!

Tom Estrada has produced and is sharing with us TWO USS SELLERS videos that was created in the 1980s. They look GREAT and if the view of the Cooper River bridge doesn't move you, then you'd better check to see if you still have a pulse. The flies are large (3+Mb) so it will take awhile to download if you are not on a broadband connection

"Most Wanted"

Right now, the "most wanted" list includes:
- Oral history inputs. Your stories, your experiences recorded on tape. We can take the tape, convert it to digital format and post on the website. None of us is getting any younger. The time is NOW to capture your memories on tape and share them with us.
- 8mm film. If you have 8mm tapes from the 60's through the 80s we'd love to add this as well.
- Decommissioning Items. ANYTHING related to decomm highly valued. Please contact us if you have any artifacts, sounds, recording, photos related to the actual decommissioning ceremony of SELLERS.
- Current Photographs. We'd like to establish a page dedicated to photographs of SELLERSMEN as they are today. If you'd be willing to share, click here.

OSCM Delta Hinson Retirement

Our Association VP, Delta Hinson, retired from active duty on 4 February 2005. We express our sincere appreciation to Delta on his service to our great nation. Click here, and here also to view two photos of the retirement ceremony announcement.

Adams Class Veterans Association, Inc..

The goal of the ACVA is to:

  • Work with all Adams class groups and organizations to Save, Restore and Preserve the USS Charles F. Adams DDG-2;
  • Educate the public on the rich naval heritage of the Adams class DDG ships;
  • Document the roles of Adams class DDG ships in United States history;
  • Show the importance of preserving historic naval vessels and memorabilia for future generations to appreciate.
The ACVA has chosen to try to save the last remaining Adams Class DDG, the USS Charles F. Adams. They have found a home for her, but they need our help - NOW - to raise the NAVSEA application fee! For more infomation and to join the ACVA, click here.

RADM Robert J. Cox - Former Fire Control Officer

We were just made aware that ENS R. J. Cox, the FCO on SELLERS in the late '70s, was selected for Flag in 2003. We offer or belated congratulations to a SELLERSMAN who has "done good". For a bio of RADM Cox, click here. RADM Cox is currently the Commander, Carrier Strike Group FIFTEEN.

CAPT Rumney Contribution

We have received the 1972-1973 "Around the World" Cruise Book from CAPT R.F. Rumney and will begin putting it on the web site soon. CAPT Rumney also sent along a few slides for us to scan, and those photographs are already posted and may be viewed by clicking here.

Oral History Program

We would like to capture the voices of SELLERSMEN through the years. If you'd be willing to record your thoughts about your time on SELLERS and send that recording to us, we'll post it to the web site. Send your taped voice recordings to: Terry Johnson, 420 Indian Lane, Salisbury MD 21801. If you have existing WAV or MP3 files, you mail email those to us.
